Partendo dalle poche tracce biografiche giunte fino a noi, ricostruiremo un ritratto poetico e immaginifico di Marin Marais, uno dei più grandi musicisti della corte del Re Sole.
Attraverso un viaggio tra alcune delle sue composizioni per viola da gamba – strumento regale e anima sonora dell’epoca – sveleremo la sua straordinaria sensibilità e la sua personalità complessa.
Sarà un percorso in cui l’uomo e il musicista di corte si intrecciano indissolubilmente, tra vincoli, passioni e grandezza creativa. Da questo legame nascerà un dialogo-monologo tra attore e strumento, tra musica e parola, tra corpo e voce.
In una scena sospesa – minimalista e barocca al tempo stesso – rivivranno gli splendori di Versailles. Due protagonisti, un unico respiro: quello della musica che attraversa il tempo.

Starting from the few biographical traces that have reached us, we will reconstruct a poetic and imaginative portrait of Marin Marais, one of the greatest musicians at the court of the Sun King.
Through a journey into some of his compositions for the viola da gamba – the royal instrument and the true voice of its era – we will unveil his extraordinary sensitivity and complex personality.
This will be a path where the man and the court musician are inseparably intertwined, between constraints, passions, and creative greatness. From this connection will emerge a dialogue-monologue between actor and instrument, between music and word, between body and voice.
Within a suspended scene – minimalist and baroque at the same time – the splendors of Versailles will come to life once again. Two protagonists, a single breath: the timeless voice of music.
